What is the Global Impact Project?
The Global Impact Project is an initiative through which Beta Alpha Psi promotes education and business. We believe that by doing so we not only help by making a difference in individual's lives, but we also contribute to the greater good of society.
For the academic year 2011/2012, BAP has partnered with Imbako Public Health, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing poverty and promoting education among Kenyan women and children (www.imbakopublichealth.org). BAP will continue to partner with Imbako until sufficient funds are raised to start an endowment. After the endowment is fully funded, BAP will shift the focus of the Global Impact Project to another education-related initiative.
Over the past 2 semester, BAP members and candidates have raised nearly $30,000 and have helped change the lives of nine underprivileged Kenyan women. The money raised is used to cover full college scholarships for motivated women who would not normally have the opportunity to go to college. The young women we help now will be powerful change agents in their villages in the future. Directly touching one life will have a powerful impact on many generations to come.
How much should I raise as a member or candidate?
Candidates and members are required to raise $100 this semester. Please note that these amounts are minimum requirements. We encourage our members and candidates to raise more than the required amount.
Two scholarships will be made available to BAP members and candidates. These scholarships will cover the cost of the winner’s GMAT exam, and will be awarded to the top fundraiser as well as the most creative fundraiser. After the donations deadline, a form will be made available on the BAP website where members and candidates can explain their creative fundraising approaches.
Please note that BAP Leadership is not eligible for these scholarships.
How should I raise the money?
The money can be raised through any kind of fundraising or personal contribution by family, friends or the candidate/member.
When are donations due?
All donations for spring 2012 are due on March 12, 2012.
How should I turn in my donations?
Donations can be made via cash, check, or PayPal. Checks must be made payable to Beta Alpha Psi for tax-deductible purposes. The PayPal option may be reached using the "Donate to GIP" link on the left. Please monitor the BAP website for further details. |
